Cushman & Wakefield recently announced that DHL has just reinforced its presence in Alverca Park with an increase in the occupation of the storage area which doubled its capacity, from 5,000 sq.m to almost 12,000 sq.m. Cushman & Wakefield represented Logicor, the company owning Alverca Park, during this transaction, one of the most important leasing transactions in Lisboa's logictics market in the last 12 months.
DHL is part of the world leader company of postal services and logistics Deutsche Post DHL Group and it is present in more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, which makes it the most international company in the world. With more than 325,000 collaborators, it is one of the largest employers in the world and provides solutions for an almost infinite number of logistics needs.
Logicor is one of the largest real estate companies in Europe, focused on the purchases and structuring of state-of-the-art distribution and logistics facilities. Currently, Logicor controls 13 million of square meters in several European key markets, of which more than 500,000 sq.m are located in Portugal.
The expansion of DHL in Alverca Park was basically triggered by the growth of the technological segment of the company, with a view towards the strategic level the company has defined for the Portuguese market, which mainly consists in developing a logistic campus in the country so as to increase the operational effectiveness and to generating synergies.
The choice of staying and growing in Alverca Park was based on the location of the venture, on the excellent urban context and on the quality of the warehouses and of the support services for the management of space. Security is present 24/7, and the warehouses have spare spaces for the social and management support.
Alverca Park enjoys a unique location next to the access to A1 and to CREL. It is only 10 minutes from Lisbon International airport and from the Vasco da Gama bridge. Besides, it is only 800m far from the Alverca station where people can find all the light rail vehicles heading to the access to Gare do Oriente and to Lisbon's underground - a unique advantage for the people who need to move around using public transport and not very common when it comes to logistics facilities.
Ana Gomes, associate and head of the Industrial and Land team said, “DHL's growth in Alverca Park was mainly based on the best access and operational conditions offered by this venture, both of them are key for any logistics company".
Manel Vericat, Managing Director of Southern Europe Logicor added: "We are very pleased with giving support to DHL in Europe and with providing more logistics space for the company, while they improve their storage and distribution operations in Portugal."
According to Rui Gomes, Country Manager of DHL Supply Chain in Portugal: "The partnership agreement with Logicor in this logistics centre represents another step in our growth strategy for Portugal." This new logistics campus reinforces our position in the Iberian market and allows DHL to offer a better service for all its customers."
