The Irish textile chain Primark opened another store in Portugal. The new unit opened last 29 August in Coimbra Forum. This is the brand’s sixth store in the country, and totals 2,200 m2.
With the opening of this store, which is joining those already existing in the Dolce Vita Tejo, Parque Nascente, Sintra Forum, Aqua Portimão and Braga Parque, Primark is strengthening its presence on the national level. All these openings show evidence of the success of the brand in Portugal and confirm Primark’s careful and sustainable plan to expand in our country.
The global real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) was once again responsible for this transaction, having represented Primark. The firm has assisted the Irish company in obtaining and negotiating the spaces since the beginning of the activity in Portugal, in 2009.
Primark is one of the biggest textile chains in Europe and has a strong presence in the United Kingdom. The brand is dedicated to a wide range of quality products at low prices and is directed to a young target audience interested in the latest fashion trends.
Primark's European network currently has 239 stores and around 40,000 employees in seven countries.
According to Mafalda Cotta, from Cushman & Wakefield’s retail department, “it is very satisfying to see that at a time when most retailers have been starting to pull away from their plans for expansion, there are some, like Primark, who are keeping Portugal in their sights and continue to see good opportunities in the country for investment.”
